Clean the Clutter- Fill the Holes

I recently posted on Instagram, “New Year- New You…NO THANKS, How about- New Year- Best You!”. It really seemed to resonate with many people…How do I know- lots of likes & comments. The new year & new decade bring fresh ideas, possibilities, & perspectives. I like to start the year by cleansing… no, not the juice cleanse type, but rather a cleanse of my home, where I spend so much time. This usually entails organizing the house by cleaning out drawers, closets, & laptop/phone files. You’ll be amazed how great you feel if you set a goal to clean out 1 drawer a day! The bedside table, kitchen junk drawer, & bathroom junk drawer always seem to be the worst and make me feel the best!

So this New Year, don’t set huge goals or resolutions that are hard to keep! My goal is to take 15 minutes each day & clean out the junk…whether that’s in drawer, on my laptop or in my head! Once you get rid of the junk, you find out what really matters and what’s lacking! This philosophy also works in your closet. Once the clutter is gone, you see where the holes are.

After you clean a drawer or 2 or maybe a section of your closet, you can focus on what you need for the new decade. Remember don’t bite off more than you can chew or try to do too much at 1 time…Baby Steps!
